・mend: 大した技術を要しないものを修理する
・repair: 多少とも特殊な技術を要するものを修理する
They mended the scratch by painting over it.
（彼らはこすれ傷を上塗りして直した。）
We should repair the whole breakage of the front door, or otherwise the wild will blow inside.
（正面の扉にできた傷を直さなければ、風が吹くのを防げません。）
